The Atlantic Salmon Science Hub is collaboration between the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC), the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) at the University of Tasmania.
On this hub, we share our salmon aquaculture research outputs – to bring our science together in one place, provide information that is easier to read and understand, and give you the opportunity to dive deeper into final reports and publications. We will continue to update the information here as our scientific knowledge increases and the science evolves.
The Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) takes a leading role in planning and investment in fisheries research and development (R&D) to support the sustainability of our aquatic sectors and aquatic ecosystems.
FRDC invests in and manages R&D for the benefit of fishing and aquaculture and the wider community, and we encourage adoption of the resulting knowledge and innovation. We coordinate government and industry investment and work with our stakeholders to establish and address their R&D priorities.
The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is Australia’s national research agency and innovation catalyst. CSIRO works with organisations large and small, delivering world-leading research and development solutions to help their business innovate, improve and grow.
Our collaborative research turns science into solutions for food security and quality, clean energy and resources, health and wellbeing, resilient and valuable environments, innovative industries, and a secure Australia and region.
Located at the gateway to the Southern Ocean and Antarctica, the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) at the University of Tasmania is an internationally-recognised centre of excellence for marine and Antarctic research.
With collaborative partners across the globe, we deliver our research to government, industry, institutions and communities. We create exceptional learning opportunities for the next generation of scientists, and we are dedicated to enhancing environmental understanding and facilitating thoughtful and sustainable development for the benefit of Australia and the world.
